Tim Muindi
Co-Founder of the Muindi Foundation, Tim was born and raised in Kenya to parents who believed our short time here on earth was bigger than just ourselves. We are meant to positively impact others and our communities. Tim's parents set a great example for him by giving their time and financial resources to those unserved or underserved in their community. In the late 1990’s, they established Tumaini Children’s Home in their hometown of Nyeri, Kenya to serve children who were unhoused, abandoned or orphaned. Through this ministry, Tim witnessed the impact people can have purely by acting on a need. Listening to the children's stories at Tumaini about their journeys, he was touched by how their sense of self-worth was being restored simply by having someone care for them.
When Tim moved to the San Francisco Bay Area over two decades ago, he became active in his local community through various church outreach programs for the underserved. He saw great need as many individuals and families faced food insecurity, lack of shelter, limited economic opportunity, mental health issues, among many others. Along with his wife Serena, Tim started periodically gathering a small group of friends to prepare simple meals at their home and share them with the unhoused in Silicon Valley. Through this outreach they have been able to meet some of the needs of the most vulnerable in their community and mobilize more people to act.
Tim’s heart breaks every time he sees people hungry and unhoused, especially children. Many people he's spoken with aspire to be self-sufficient and provide for their families. Any small part he can play to make a positive impact is an opportunity he is thankful for. He encourages you to join him in this journey.
Tim holds a BS in Accounting/Information Technology and an MBA, Finance from Willamette University. His career includes various finance/ treasury consultant and management positions at CNF, Ernst & Young, Seagate, Tibco, LinkedIn, Lumentum and ServiceNow as Senior Director of Treasury Services.
